Tom Lehman Engages at Profile of Champions Event
Following last year's success with Profile of Champions with Fred Funk as our speaker, 2010's Profile of Champion was another huge great event!, Again at the Riverhouse to coincide with the Jeld-Wen Tradition Champions Event at Crosswater in Sunriver, well over 300 attended this year to hear keynote speaker Tom Lehman.
The program started at 7:00 am as COCBA President Wayne Hanson welcomed the attendees. Jay Smith of The Heart Campaign showed a brief video and introduced "I (Heart) Central Oregon":, a community-wide outreach and community service day coming up on September 25th which will culminate at the Deschutes County Expo Center with a concert and inspirational speaker.
Bill Moe, past COCBA president and coordinator of the Profile of Champions for the last 4 years, thanked the Friesen brothers, who through their Friesen Foundation have sponsored the breakfast event every year. He then introduced Search Ministry's Jeff Hart, former NFL player and current Oregon Director, who has been responsible for getting the Tour players to come and speak each year.
Lehman was fittingly introduced with a video of his hole-in-one the weekend before, delighting the crowd with his "victory lap" as he high fived the gallery around the tee. Champions Tour golfer Larry Mize also joined us at the breakfast and was introduced.
Lehman, who is known for his outgoing profession of his faith, shared his challenges in his relationships and overly competitive nature. Through his journey in pro golf, paralleling his journey of faith in Jesus Christ, did he overcome his natural tendencies to become the golfer, and the man, he should be.
COCBA would like to thank everyone who attended this event and all who helped bring it to Central Oregon and make it happen. It appears this will be the last POC breakfast, as it was announced after the end of the Jeld-Wen tournament that it would be moving to another location next year.
