Greetings from COCBA in Central Oregon! We are excited to be providing a number of changes for the business community in our area. We continue our monthly Luncheon meetings at the Bend Country Club and will offer special events in the months ahead. We will update this news when these events are finalized.
We have made some significant changes in our membership status for Churches and Ministries in Central Oregon. Our desire is to cooperate on all fronts with these ministries and our position is that either churches or ministries agree with our Vision statement.
There are no membership fees for either ministries or churches. We ask that the churches include mention of our meetings in their bulletin or on a board and have copies of our brochures in their foyers. All churches and ministries will be contacted and individual ministries will be reviewed by the board. Existing churches and ministries on our Sponsored lists will be contacted individually for their consideration of these changes.
Christ@Work International President Kent Humphries was in Bend for two meetings in 2007 with our membership and it was agreed by our Board we would serve as an umbrella organization for future groups of Christ@Work. We recommend you check out http://www.fcci.org/ for information about this ministry and/or contact Bill Moe at bmoe@wgmoe.com or 541-280-9080 for more information.
Presidents Message for January 2009
Greetings!
We at the COCBA hope that you were able to weather the difficult economic climate in 2008, and we have hopes for a better year in 2009. I don't think any of us were untouched by the challenges this past year, professionally, economically or even spiritually.
Whatever our individual situations, we each have opportunities to share Christ in our work environment. If someone we work or know with has had their hours reduced or has lost their job, we can come along side offering help and encouragement. If we have ourselves experienced a work change for the worst, we can demonstrate by example how a Christian can respond to serious trials.
Is this easy? No. But can we make a difference? You bet. This is one reason why the COCBA leadership is excited about the Christ@Work program which will be the feature of January's Monthly COCBA luncheon. Bill Moe will be share the vision of starting additional Christ@Work group meetings in Central Oregon with a video presentation from Kent Humphries, former President and CEO of Christ@Work.
This video is the first of a three part series on Simon Peter: A Transformed Leader. This foundational leadership study is very relevant to our world today. Kent Humphries has a simple and clear yet hard hitting communication style which explains the relevance of this scripture to our workplace walk in a powerful way.
We believe this is a great way to start 2009 in the COCBA. Bill Moe is a 15 year Legacy Leader of Christ@Work in addition to being the past president of COCBA. He believes the current spiritual and economic conditions of Central Oregon are fertile ground for this information to add a positive and encouraging outlook to our progress in the workplace.
Join us on January 8th (On our new day of Thursday!) for our monthly luncheon and build up your leadership capability. We need strong leaders to help those having a tough time keep going. We look forward to COCBA making a difference in encouraging these leaders: could you be one?
Thank you for your support in 2008, and we look forward to a good year serving our Lord in 2009. Won't you join us to kick off the New Year?
In His service,
Wayne Hanson COCBA Board President whanson@bendcable.com 541-280-5922

The workplace provides an incredible opportunity to evangelize and equip leaders in the name of Jesus Christ. The vision of Christ@Work is to rely on the power of the Holy Spirit to reach out to people in the business community in a way that glorifies God.
Bill Moe is a 15 year Legacy Leader of Christ@Work and will share the vision of starting more group meetings in Central Oregon with a video presentation from Kent Humphries, former President and CEO of Christ@Work. Bill believes the current economic and spiritual conditions of Central Oregon will find encouragement and a positive outlook by adding this information
